#YoungJaeDay_MNL: A Flavorful Experience

2022 marks the beginning of GOT7 members’ solo tours in Manila. 

Choi Youngjae was the first member to visit The New Frontier Theater in Manila on July 23rd for his first solo concert and fan signing following the release of his second mini album ‘SUGAR,’ making this a significant and memorable reunion for the PH Aghases. 

The fans patiently waited in line while adhering to the strict Covid-19 protocols. But beneath their masks, the excitement and joy are still palpable. Especially after seeing their long-awaited idol.

The event was not only entertaining but also interactive, kudos to the amazing host and VJ, AI Dela Cruz. It was also full of surprises for the PH Aghases, all of which were made possible by CDM Entertainment.

REFRESHING

Youngjae took the stage in a stunning pink suit and a guile perm hairstyle that gave off a strong and refreshing ‘oppa’ vibe as he performs ‘Tasty’ from his first mini album, ‘COLORS from Ars.,’ followed by ‘Focus’ from his most recent album, ‘SUGAR’. 

Fans couldn’t contain their emotions and let out a resonating scream, adding to the excitement of his performances. 

SAVORY

We learned about Youngjae’s various personalities through the interview.  

As the first GOT7 member to visit the country, he stated that he was preparing to meet the PH Aghases as soon as possible and said that he would practice even after getting sick, demonstrating his dedication and love for his fans.  

It’s been three years since Youngjae came to Manila with his group, GOT7, so he just couldn’t stop staring at the crowd saying,

Wow, it’s been a long time!

YOUNGJAE

When congratulated on becoming a radio DJ, Youngjae expressed his gratitude to the PH Aghases for consistently listening to the radio show despite the fact that Korean is not the first language of Filipinos. And when asked if he had a favorite radio show episode, he replied that ‘all stories sent by Aghase are special to him.’

He also displayed his quirky side when complimented on his handsome looks in the ‘SUGAR’ music video, saying that the key point is, ‘just me,’ to which fans agreed. More than the concept, it is the artist who adds to its uniqueness.

He’s very entertaining; it was great to see him joking around and feeling at ease with the host and audience. He was really cute when he randomly mumbled tagalog words like ‘gwapo ako’ (I’m handsome) and ‘palakpakan’ (to clap). 

He has a distinct and amusing personality; during the Guess the Song segment, where he demonstrates his musical genius by guessing the song by its first note, he initially appeared confident, but being in a country known for humor, we wouldn’t give him what he expected, right? So, when he heard songs like ‘Happy Birthday’ or Psy’s hit ‘Gangnam Style,’ he simply stopped trying too hard. Filipinos enjoy joking around, but are also giving people, so in the end, it’s still a guaranteed win for Youngjae. 

The PH Aghases were also able to participate in games that would test how much they know their idol and even got a chance to win posters signed by Youngjae himself!

SPICY

Youngjae returned in a feisty black suit after the interview and game segment to perform ‘Vibin’ and of course, his latest title track, ‘SUGAR’. 

He continued with his final ment after the performance. Youngjae emphasized,

The Filipinos’ scream is truly ‘one-of-a-kind’.

YOUNGJAE

He also stated that he wants to do more fun things with Aghase and that ‘when he says it, he means it,’ which gave the fans something to look forward in the future. 

SWEET

Amongst all the flavors we’ve explored, sweet is what everyone in the venue craves for. 

The show would not be complete without Youngjae receiving a special gift from his lovely fans.

In the fan-made video dedicated to him, fans wrote, ‘We are proud of you and we will always be WITH YOU’, answering Youngjae’s song, ‘With You’ from his latest album.

Many fans burst into tears at this point, not only because they had waited so long to see their idol, but also because it brought back so many memories from when GOT7 visited Manila three years ago.

That being said, following Youngjae’s final song, ‘Crema,’ he made it even more special for the fans by performing GOT7 songs ‘Nanana’ and ‘Girls Girls Girls,’ and even went down the stage to see each and every one in the crowd.
