“Vibrant Hues: Solar 2nd Concert ‘COLOURS’ Captivates Manila”

On June 16, 2024, the Solaire Theatre was awash with vibrant colors as Solar of the renowned K-pop group MAMAMOO held her 2nd solo tour, ‘COLOURS,’ in Manila. The evening was a captivating display of Solar’s exceptional talent and endearing persona.

Solar was so damn fine with her opening performances of ‘Colors’, ‘Raw’, and ‘Spit it out’. Igniting the enthusiasm of the devoted PH Yongsoons and Moomoos, who had eagerly anticipated her return to Manila. Solar’s charming interactions with the audience, including her playful use of Filipino phrases, only served to deepen the connection between the artist and her fans.

After greeting the fans she then moved on to her next set “Honey series” where songs ‘Mellow’, ‘Honey Honey’, ‘Honey Bee’, and ‘Honey’ were performed.

“I can see honey falling from Manila fans. You’re my honey” words from Solar that made the PH Yongsoons and Moomoos exclaimed in sweetness.

Before proceeding to her next set, which Solar described as the weather of Manila, saying that it is alike. The fans guessed that the word for it is “hot” and referred to Solar as the one who’s ‘hot’. Solar response to this was “I’m hot? no I’m mhiema” making the venue burst in laughter, as this is a Filipino slang word for ‘mom’ or ‘mommy’.

Her playful banter with the audience, such as her witty response to being called “hot,” showcased her wonderful sense of humor and endeared her further to the delighted audience.

Solar’s vocal prowess shone through in her subsequent set, as she masterfully executed high notes in songs like ‘Love Has Gone,’ ‘Blues,’ and ‘Empty,’ demonstrating her remarkable skills as a singer.

Other songs that was also included in her setlist were ‘Where the Wind Rises’, ‘Only Longing Grows’, ‘Hello’, and ‘But I’.

Before the next segment of her concert, a VCR of Solar’s onsongs ‘Crazy In Love’, ‘Candyman’, and ‘Chandelier’ was played. The VCRs showed Solar’s fun and silly personality which made the fans smile and laugh the entire time, and undoubtedly was one of the highlights of her concert.

I’m so proud because my fans love it (the VCR) so much,” she said.

Back on stage in her sparkly purple outfit, Solar performs ‘Big Booty’, ‘Blues’, and other several songs for her set.

Solar also shared that Yongsoons give her strength. And whenever difficulties arises she wants to tell the fans that “Life is easy peasy, lemon squeezy”. With this encouragement, she proceeded with performing her song ‘Easy Peasy’.

The fans also prepared a surprise video project for Solar which she responded with “Looking at those videos, I’m really thankful. I’m not the type of person that cries easily but my eyes were teary so I had to hold it in…”

“I think it might be embarrassing, so I had to hold it in.”

Wearing a sleeveless white “Colours” themed top, Solar surprised Yongsoons when she entered off-stage to personally greet them up close. Lucky fans were given a chance to take selfies with her. These cute encounters were posted by fans on various online communities.

In between her performances she also conversed a lot with the fans. She not only captivated everyone there with her performances but also with her funny personality whenever she talks on stage, including her unforgettable moment with a lizard when she stayed in Manila to study at an international elementary school. Solar being solar on-stage made the night a fun-filled one.

Solar’s performances turned into a clubbing atmosphere when she delivered energetic songs for the encore. She not only performed “Unholy” but also one of BINI’s hit songs, “PANTROPIKO.” Solar even performed it twice!

Solar also recalled, “Last year, we had the opportunity to meet you. I was happy to see you again this year.” Reflecting on the group’s previous “MYCON” concert in the Philippines, she shared, “After the show, there were many feelings left behind. You were cheering for us so enthusiastically, and the members and I were amazed by it.”

MAMAMOO debuted on June 18,2024. With the group’s 10thanniversary approaching, Solar also expressed how happy she was that she was able to spend it with the Yongsoons.

Throughout the concert Solar also kept expressing her amazement and gratitude to the PH Yongsoons and Moomoos, words such as “Manila Yongsoons so beautiful”, “Sobrang ganda niyo, sobrang saya ko”, “The best kayo” were relayed by her.

Surely, Solar’s words would linger in the hearts of her devoted Yongsoons as they departed the concert hall, carrying the warmth and joy of the evening’s revelry.
