Super Junior’s Donghae and Eunhyuk once again graced the Manila concert scene, this time as Super Junior D&E with their recently concluded fancon, DElight Party in Manila. The fancon was held on September 30 at the Araneta Coliseum, the duo’s second visit to the Philippines in the span of a few months following Super Junior’s Fan Party in Manila on July 21 at the same venue.
Filipino ELFs are no stranger to the energy and incredible stage presence of both Eunhyuk and Donghae, so the fancon felt every bit like a professionally-hosted party than your usual K-pop concert. The duo performed both their new and older hit songs as D&E, and even gave Filipino ELFs a treat by performing snippets of some of their biggest hits as Super Junior.
Donghae and Eunhyuk truly know how to get their fans dancing and up on their feet with raw passion and energy, opening the fancon with “Zero,” “B.A.D.,” and “Danger.” In turn, D&E were met with an enthusiastic ocean of sapphire blue, the fans screaming the lyrics along in typical Filipino ELF fashion.
True to their fandom’s name, Donghae and Eunhyuk greeted their fans like they were longtime friends, opening with “kamusta kayo?” during their first ment after performing a couple of their songs. Immediately, the response was warm, Filipino ELFs answering with deafening cheers instead of giving an actual reply.
Eunhyuk noticed this and asked if his pronunciation of “kamusta kayo?” was correct, implying that he might not have gotten the question across. When the Filipino ELF’s replied in the positive, Eunhyuk jokingly followed up with “then, can you answer loudly?” The coliseum echoed with the laughter of amused Filipino ELFs, Eunhyuk’s jokes tickling the fans’ funny bones. Finally, Donghae and Eunhyuk receive a more coherent reply, variations of “we’re doing okay!” and enthusiastic thumbs ups thrown their way. Satisfied, they continue with their ment, talking about how this fancon was the first time Donghae and Eunhyuk performed in the Philippines as Super Junior D&E. To end their first ment, Donghae and Eunhyuk thanked Filipino ELFs for their unwavering support and sweetly encouraged the fans to join them next time as well.
Of course, everyone in Araneta promised to be with the duo every step of the way. After all, as ELFs, they were already Super Junior’s Ever Lasting Friends, and friends support each other through and through. Throughout the fancon they further spoiled their fans with performances from a solid lineup of hits including “Sunrise,” “‘Bout You,” “Gloomy,” “Growing Pains,” “Still You,” and “Home.” They also performed fan favorites such as “Need U,” “I Wanna Dance,” “Oppa, Oppa,” “Hello,” “Mamacita,” “Sorry, Sorry,” “Bonamana,” and “Can You Feel It.”
As part of the interactive portion of the fancon, Filipino ELFs joined Donghae and Eunhyuk in singing “Still You.” This was immediately after the fans gifted the duo with a heartwarming fan project showing how much they love and support Super Junior-D&E.
Other notable moments of the fancon include the games portion, where Donghae and Eunhyuk played the “99-second Challenge” and interacted with their fans while engaging in friendly fire. The fans cheered the duo during each of their turns, doing more to distract than help when the screams made them lose their focus and laugh. Eunhyuk was also game to dance “Gento,” a viral dance challenge on TikTok inspired by the Philippines’ own SB19.
The fifth sub-unit of the renowned South Korean boy band Super Junior, known as Super Junior-D&E, never ceases to amaze both ELFs and newer fans. Beyond their catchy music, Donghae and Eunhyuk’s (D&E) journey is a reflection of Super Junior’s continuing popularity as a whole, showcasing their outstanding abilities while making a lasting impression on the K-pop industry.
Seeing as the fancon was directed by Eunhyuk, it was no surprise that it was a resounding success. The performances were top-tier and the stage setup and songs lineup were meticulously created to keep the fans hooked and hyped from start to finish. It was another one for the books as Super Junior D&E continues to captivate fans’ hearts through their DElight Party World Tour Fancon.
