Butterflies filled the Smart Araneta Coliseum as the start of the event approached last March 5. Excitement was buzzing around, Filipino Songpyeons giddy to see the man of the night – Song Kang.
Some pre-event festivities were carried out as fans waited for the show to begin. Meeting Song Kang in person backstage was the prize at stake for the games that some pre-selected fans were playing.
And with that, an eventful night’s just about to begin.
Let’s get down to business and see some of the highlights of Song Kang’s Fun Meet in Manila:
G22 and VXON
The first to perform was a girl group called G22 who performed their song ‘Bang’.
The next group that performed was VXON, a P-Pop boy group. To have P-Pop groups open for a Korean Actor’s event is truly a sight to see.
The two groups hyped up the crowd in preparation for Song Kang’s much awaited appearance on stage.

Sam Oh, the event’s host called out to Song Kang from behind the stage and Songpyeons were given a sneak peak of the handsome actor on the LED Screen.
A few minutes after the sneak peak, the coliseum was filled with screams, and maybe even happy tears from Songpyeons as the ‘Son of Netflix’ finally comes up on stage to start his fun meet.
Our Hype Boy, Song Kang!
Since the actor learned ballet for his Netflix series ‘Navillera’, he gave the fans a sample dance performance of ‘Hype Boy’ by New Jeans and did a little ballet closer to the end of night.
Love Alarm and Nevertheless
In a segment of his fan meeting, he was asked to say a line from his Netflix series ‘Love Alarm’ and ‘Nevertheless’. Filipino Songpyeons went wild as it felt as if he was saying it directly to them. The love alarm of each fan rang as Song Kang said his line.
Butterflies could be felt as he got in the zone to say his line, paired with his handsomeness everyone wished they were Nabi when he proclaimed he liked her in the series.
“Come With Me To Korea”
Oh, to actually go to Korea with Song Kang would be a dream come true. In this segment, lucky fans were tasked to teach him Filipino words. One of those was “Samahan Mo Ako sa Korea”, which directly translated to “Come with me to Korea”.
Once the fan asked him to repeat after her, he answered with “You want it?”. Which of course, made everyone scream in kilig. When does your favorite actor ever ask you to come home with them?

Sadly, not all events can last the whole day. Our beloved actor has to go back home, but not before getting a surprise from his Filipino fans. A video project was flashed on the big screen and as Song Kang watched it, he suddenly felt emotional.
He was very touched with how much his fans supported him and loved him. He expressed how he was shocked to be this known outside his home country South Korea, especially after seeing how packed the venue was and how loud the screams were. Although tears were spilled, the actor still looked dashing which also left the fans breathless.
To end the night, Song Kang gives his final farewell to his fans. ‘Til next time our butterfly, Song Kang!
