South Korean actor Kim Bum’s 2023 Between U and Me Asia Fan Meeting in Manila is happening this Friday, 7pm at the New Frontier Theater.
Fans have been already buzzing since the event was announced, raring to see the 34-year-old Hallyu star.
As someone new to Kdrama, I wanted to know what the buzz is about. I asked someone about Kim Bum, and searched thoroughly about him. He was familiar, but I had to be sure.
As I went through his profile, there was one nostalgic drama I saw: Boys Over Flowers. I was right. He was So Yi-Jung.
I’m still in my early 20s, so the 2009 drama was during my high school days. It was one of those shows that the masses loved.
It got me hooked. His upcoming fan meet got me more excited, and it led me to look for clips on his fan meet in other countries and aside from the constant gushing and screaming from the fans, all I saw was pink.
I don’t have an idea on why his current event centered around that color. I looked through the web and according to Adobe (n.d.), “pink is a nurturing, playful, and nostalgic color that takes people back to their childhoods. That said, pink is a color of opposites since it can make us think of both innocence and burning passion. Bright and hot pinks are associated with love and romance.”
Hence, it made me think that Kim Bum wishes to nurture his fans with his love, have fun with them through games, and bring them back in time (although he looks like he doesn’t age).
The fan meeting will certainly be a night to remember. You might want to wear your best pink outfit and look forward to an amazing pink friday with Kim Bum.
