The PICC Plenary Hall last April 16, 2023, was filled with excitement as the time for Lee Jong Suk’s fan meeting approached. This is the second time that Lee Jong Suk has visited the Philippines for a fan meeting, the first one was way back in 2018, and yet the support of PH Sukkies never wavered. He gained even more fans over the course of the years since he first went to Manila.
This time around, Lee Jong Suk didn’t come alone. L’Officiel Philippines announced that Lee Jong Suk is bringing a special guest with him. BGYO was then announced as the opening act for the fan meeting, in which Denise Laurel was the host for the event. A fan meeting consists of many segments, some of which makes the fans go wild with anticipation.
Let’s go over the moments that made PH Sukkies squeal:
Lee Jong Suk’s Grand Entrance
Upon the entrance of the handsome actor on stage, the screams of the fans were deafening. Jong Suk even seemed quite shocked with how loud the fans screamed. We were definitely in awe of how gorgeous the actor was. Star-struck, if you may. For those that have not seen him in person and were just seeing him then, we’re pretty sure that no pictures could do his visuals justice.
As the event’s host, Denise Laurel was saying Tagalog words, Lee Jong Suk caught on one word and it was “gwapo”, which means handsome in Tagalog. He proceeds to repeat after Denise and even says, “ I am gwapo ”. Which he is indeed, gwapo.
Lee Jong Suk and the Fan Segment
To be able to hug and be close to your idol crush is a dream. That night, it was a dream come true for 3 fans that were selected by Jong Suk himself from the message board that was placed outside the venue.
Jong Suk not only gave these 3 fans a hug each, they also took pictures together, and the actor even prepared gifts for them that he himself got.
Lee Jong Suk and Shin Jae Ha dancing to Hype Boy by New Jeans
Since it was promoted that Jong Suk will have a special guest, everyone anticipated on who might the guest be. The actor hinted that it was a dongsaeng whom he cherished. When the VCR played and showed Shin Jae Ha, the fans were delighted to see him.
Hype Boy by New Jeans has been viral since its release and many have hopped on the trend and did the Hype Boy dance challenge. Sukkies kind of thought that Jong Suk would dance to New Face by Psy during this fan meet, but low and behold, when Shin Jae Ha was asked to do a “sample”, Jae Ha started dancing to Dynamite by BTS and he pulled Jong Suk in to dance with him as well! The two had some awesome groove to their bodies. There was a sudden switch to the music and they danced to Hype Boy. This made the fans holler at them to keep going. The fans beside us couldn’t contain how elated they feel watching the two actors dance to the viral song.
Shin Jae Ha’s “Shot Puno”
A segment during the fan meet was for Jong Suk to try Filipino food that tastes similar to Korean food. Jae Ha took liberty in being the one to feed Jong Suk the food and the actor will guess what it tastes like.
On the tray, along with the food is a famous Filipino Gin and Korean Soju. Since Jong Suk declined the shot saying he wasn’t really good in drinking, Jae Ha took the shot for him. Denise, Jong suk, and Jae Ha all held a shot glass or bottle and did a toast saying “shot puno“, which is a famous saying in the Philippines when drinking a shot of alcohol.
Lee Jong Suk re-enacting scenes from his past K-Dramas
Re-enacting K-Drama scenes isn’t new for Jong Suk but for some reason, as he was acting with Jae Ha, he couldn’t help but laugh saying, “It’s been a long time since I’ve acted out these scenes.”. It even got to a point where he started feeling hot and he removed his demin jacket, showing off his muscular arms which of course made everyone scream. He did hint that he’s been working out more lately, and did he prove that with those arms.
The night is slowly approaching its end. Shin Jae Ha says his farewell and thanks for being welcomed warmly by Jong Suk’s fans and a promise that once given the opportunity, he’d come back for his solo fan meeting.
A video fan project was flashed on the LCD and Jong Suk, alongside his PH Sukkies watched the video and once it ended the fans showed the hand banner for Jong Suk. He showed his appreciation to his beloved fans and ended the night with one final song. The night with both Jong Suk and Jae Ha was a night worth remembering.
