Another dramatic and thrilling Viu Original, “Doom At Your Service” starring two of South Korea’s most beloved lead actors, Seo In-Guk and Park Bo-Young is here to comfort and fill your hearts in the midst of hardship.

It’s a story about a dying writer, named Dong Kyung (Park Bo-Young) whose life was in turmoil. Until, suddenly, a mysterious man, Myeol Mang (Seo In-Guk) comes and offers her a chance to live her life in accordance with her desires.

Join me, as I ramble on my thoughts on this drama. DON’T WORRY! There are no spoilers!

The Cast

To be honest, I never imagined Seo In-Guk and Park Bo-Young together in a drama. But, knowing how versatile these two actors are, I am certain this new series could be a hit. Watching even just the first episode of “Doom At Your Service” made me absolutely surprised and drawn by their powerful chemistry. These two stars showcased a type of connection that goes beyond romance. Not to mention, the authentic portrayal of their characters, Dong Kyung and Myeol Mang. Apart from that, I can’t get over the fact that these two actors never seem to age.

The drama is also filled with other great actors, Lee Seung-Joon, Kang Tae-Oh, Lee Soo-Hyuk, Shin Do-Hyun, Woo Hee-Jin to name a few. Even the popular idol group SF9’s Dawon is part of the amazing cast.

The Story

It has a very engaging plot that involves family. The struggles of raising a brother when you are a child yourself. As well as forcing yourself to be strong for your brother while facing your own battles. Though, personally, it’s quite cliché, I do believe that this is not the indication of a successful drama. It all lies on how it is written and executed. Basing from the first episode, I rather think that this drama is promising from the script to how the story unfolds. It drives emotional connection with the audience and has a good structure and pacing. As always, Korean dramas never fail to let the viewers be soaked up in every scene.

The Original Soundtrack

A heart-wrenching song called “Breaking Down” by singer-songwriter, Ailee is one of the first OSTs that was released in this drama. The song that starts of slow and mellow but then progresses to a powerful drum-driven ballad song, supported by Ailee’s soulful voice, positively adds up to the overall quality of the drama. I must say that this song got me hooked even more in the drama. Now, I am also desperately waiting for the full release of the song.

But, there’s more to look forward to in the star-studded lineup for the “Doom At Your Service” original soundtrack. It includes EXO’s Baekhyun, TXT, Gummy, Davichi, and Seo In Guk himself!

*BONUS: SF9’s Dawon on his first role in an official drama!

Prior to watching the drama, I didn’t have any idea who the cast will be aside from the main actors seen in the poster. So, I was quite surprised that SF9’s Dawon would be in it as as the main actress’ Park Bo-Young‘s brother. Fangirling aside, I was truly blown away with the sibling like chemistry of these two actors in just one scene from the first episode. Other than that, I believe that these two have an interesting story to tell and I am excited to find out more about it.

Final note

Overall, I would rate the first episode a 4 out of 5. The emotions were effectively communicated in this drama. I love how Park Bo-Young’s character is relatable in a daily life situation and how she genuinely faces the struggles she comes across. Lastly, the scenes weren’t forced. Personally, I have yet to see how they’ll experiment on the storyline. But, the fact that the drama was able to ignite my curiosity is enough reason to tune in to it.
