To kick off the first ever K-POP concert after the pandemic, Filipino fans filled the Smart Araneta Coliseum with deafening cheers on May 29, 2022 for the Begin Again: KPOP Edition.

Take off with ALICE

ALICE performs ‘This is Me’. The girls were absolutely stunning in their uniform type outfits. During their first ment, they expressed how much they missed their Filipino fans as it’s been years since they’ve last visited. Their next performances are ‘We, First’ and their debut song ‘Summer Dream’.

After their charming performances, they played the “captain game”. The instruction is that whoever makes the captain pop out of the barrel gets a punishment. The first punishment they chose was a random play dance where they danced to ‘Dynamite’ by BTS and ‘Red Flavor’ by Red Velvet. The next punishment was a 3 set “I Love You” where they showed a cute, innocent, and sexy “I Love You” to the fans. Their last punishment was sending out 5 hearts creatively to the fans, which they executed well.

For their farewell stage, they performed 3 songs, 2 of which are their latest releases  – ‘Power of Love’ and ‘No Big Deal’. Before performing the last song, ‘Jackpot’, they threw signed balls to the crowd.

Let’s spend the twilight with WEi

A charismatic performance shakes the crowd as WEi appears on stage with ‘Twilight’. After their first performance they introduced themselves and talked about how they’re so excited to hear the scream and cheers of the fans as the fans in Korea weren’t allowed to do so due to COVID restrictions.

They followed up their previous performance with a powerful stage with ‘All or Nothing’. Like ALICE, they also played a game, but instead of the captain game, they played the alligator teeth game. Whoever makes the alligator snap its mouth gets a punishment. The 1st punishment is saying “I miss you” in aegyo. This made the crowd go wild indeed! Their next punishment after another round is the random play dance where they danced to ‘Love Killa’ by MONSTA X and ‘Dynamite’ by BTS. For the final round’s punishment, they did 5 different hearts for the fans.

Their dynamic performances continue with ‘Bye Bye Bye’ and ‘Super Bumpy’. It really was astonishing to see the boys of WEi give their all in each performance. The screams of the fans indeed gave them the energy they needed for these powerful performances. It’s too bad they had to say their farewell with their latest title track, ‘Too Bad’ from their album Love Pt. 1: First Love.

System Glitch no more with NCT Dream

NCT Dream enters the stage hot and spicy with their song ‘Hot Sauce’. During their ment, they mentioned how they missed the energy of their Filipino NCTzens and how glad they are to be back even for a short period of time. They also mentioned that Chenle is learning the violin and he will show the fans once he is ready.

Their next performance was a stage that they prepared especially for their Filipino NCTzens. It is their first time performing ‘Dive Into You’ abroad and it made everything special for both NCT Dream and Filipino NCTZens. They followed up on their Dive Into You stage with a super energetic and lively performance with one of their title tracks, ‘Hello Future’.

During their last ment with the fans, they said that it was a pity that they only had one last song left and said that they’ll come back for a full concert hopefully soon. They finally said their farewell with their latest title track, ‘Glitch Mode’.

In this life we have Key

This sunday night, SHINee Key starts off his stage with his song ‘Saturday Night’. He introduces himself in English, mentions the few Filipino words he knows, and continues to talk to fans after his first song. He mentioned that his members are extremely envious that he was able to come back to the Philippines to perform. Hopefully, they will come back here as a whole group soon.

His next songs were ‘Helium’ and ‘This Life’. As the last performer, he did not fail to hype the crowd and make it feel like we were partying with him on the stage. The charisma Key exudes in every stage was phenomenal.

For his final ment, he mentioned as a TMI that he showered twice after rehearsal. He tried to delay his last song by asking the crowd what they wanted to hear him sing. The crowd chanted for ‘Ring Ding Dong’, which he looked at the crowd incredulously, asking why the crowd was still stuck on such an old song of theirs. He still sang and danced to it despite all that. For the final request he sang ‘Replay’ with the crowd. He bids his farewell with his latest title track, ‘Bad Love’.

That concludes a legendary kick off to the new ERA of K-POP concerts in Manila.

We would like to thank CDM Entertainment for bringing the artists here in the Philippines and for making this event happen.
