After his breakout performance as chief secretary Cha Sung Soon in the Netflix Korean drama Business Proposal, rising South Korean star Kim Min-gue’s fame has kept rising as he takes on his first lead role in The Heavenly Idol.

In a synopsis from Viu, the drama is based on the webtoon series Holy Idol. “In Seoul, Rembrary (Min-gue), the messenger of the great ones from above, one day finds himself in the body of Woo Yeon Woo, one of the members of the idol group Wild Animals, with a look that is nothing close to his original solemnity and divinity. Everything from skills to looks and even one’s past must be close to perfection in the world of idols, but what he sees is a weird world filled with fake smiles, concealing what lies underneath. The same was implicitly forced and anticipated, but Rembrary stuck to his beliefs and acted accordingly,” the synopsis said.

“This inevitably attracted both positive and negative attention. In fact, nothing he did was wrong or blameworthy, but his actions and words were only achievable through effort, which is why they were ignored by the majority. Yet, strangely, people couldn’t disregard his presence. One by one, his beliefs started turning into reality, and people who were weary and jaded of superficial practices found it therapeutic to be around Rembrary. And perhaps in the end, Rembrary just might find out the very reason he ended up in Seoul.”

Veiwers of the show have praised Min-gue for his irresistible charm and superb acting.

If you already watched The Heavenly Idol, you most probably saw him first in Business Proposal. Min-gue appeared in numerous dramas in the past. One of which was in Snowdrop where he played the role of military officer Joo Gyuk Chan. He also took the role of K-pop idol Yoon Min Seok, the second male lead in Perfume.

He also had cameos in other K-dramas and when I took a look at his resume, it was a long list; and that surely is a testament to his talent.

Min-gue already announced his enlistment to the military service this year, but before that, Rise Media Philippines will be bringing the 28-year old actor closer to his Filipino supporters in Heavenly Moment: Kim Mingue 1st Fan Meet in Manila. The event will be held tomorrow, April 14, Friday, 6PM at the New Frontier Theater.

Personally, I am ecstatic to see what he has prepared for all of us. If you still have not secured your tickets, what are you waiting for then? Grab ’em while they last via TicketNet and let’s all enjoy a special night in heaven with our Heavenly Idol, Kim Mingue!
