Fact: iKON can turn any concert into a party. Proof: The Manila leg of their “TAKE OFF” world tour had us singing, dancing, and jumping all night long! They were everything we imagined them to be and they surely did not disappoint. Last August 5 was an iconic night to remember and to *immortalize* the fan experience, we’ve listed down our favorite moments during iKON’s concert at the Araneta Coliseum:
When their opening VCR was shown.
In case you’re new to the K-pop world, every concert starts with a VCR or a pre-recorded video to hype the fans even more. iKON gave meaning to every letter in the word “TAKE OFF” for their VCR—an empowering message that shows they’re here to stay and are ready to face any challenges that come their way. Go IKON, we’re here for you!
When iKON sang ‘Tantara.’
iKON’s “TAKE OFF” has one of the best concert intros so far, hands down. ‘Tantara’ is already a good song but when they performed it live and we witnessed their undeniable stage presence + unmatched energy, it was even better! Suddenly iKONics were rappers after singing Bobby’s part that goes: “All my party people here, soneul deureo ollyeo beonjjeok / I need a Coke with my rum, feeling way too conscious / Millionaire pompous / I got ninety-nine problems, but they all women / Who’s hot? Who not? / Dig up that graveyard, ne rol moderege mureobwa/ Urin jikjinhaneun jung gyeonje wireul bureungbureung / Wiheomhaedo guji haji hwaseongeuro urin syung!”.
When everyone screamed “Si-no-si-jak, showtime!”.
iKON really proved that when they start a party, they never ever press stop after performing ‘Sinosijak’—the song from their 2018 album Return. Something we will do over and over again without getting tired of it is shouting “Si-no-si-jak, showtime”!
When the group greeted PH iKONics for their opening ment.
Long time no see, iKON! It’s been a year since they came to Manila and the members said that they were so excited to come back here. They also mentioned that nothing has changed and their Filipino fans are still on fire.
When member Jinhwan was shown on the screens.
To everyone’s surprise, Jinhwan—who enlisted in the military last month—was also included in “TAKE OFF” in Manila thanks to the recorded performances that he was part of. It felt like he was really there alongside his members and he was serenading the crowd with his incredible vocals.
When iKON shared that Jinhwan is the “Prince of the Philippines.”
iKON’s ments were so amusing and they shared a lot about their stay here in Manila. Yunhyeong mentioned that he fell in love with the Filipino fast-food chain Jollibee, which he posted thrice on his Twitter account. The boys also recalled Jinhwan’s infamous “Sakit akong tiyan” and “Sakit akong ilong” lines! ICYDK, Jinhwan used to live in the Philippines and he studied in Davao. “There’s one person I remember when I go to the Philippines: Jinhwan hyung, the ‘Prince of the Philippines.’ He was so excited to come here. We had a call earlier and he said that he missed the Philippines so much,” Chanwoo narrated. Aww!
When they sang ‘GOODBYE ROAD.’
iKON’s versatility was truly highlighted in their ‘GOODBYE ROAD’ performance. After belting out their electrifying tracks, they switched to this ballad that gave us all the feels. Paired with the starry night background, the performance made fans wave their konbats in the air while they sing.
The never-ending ‘B-DAY.’
Now this is the part that showed how we celebrated iKON’s concert in Manila! The members performed ‘B-DAY’ twice—one for the main stage and the other during their encore—apart from their other hits like ‘Rhythm Ta’ and ‘Love Scenario.’ The group specifically told fans to stand up from their seats and get crazy, and so they did! iKON, you are truly top-tier.
This event was made possible by PULP Live World. Thanks for making this happen
